DRUGS ARE BAD
I did a lot of stupid things as a little kid because, well, I was a little kid. I sat through the DARE program when I was ten and learned that drugs were bad. So when I got home, I went through all the cabinets, grabbed all the aspirin, cough medicine, my father’s prescription hair loss drugs like Rogaine, and I dumped it all into the toilet and flushed it. Yes, it was too much for the toilet to hold and, yes, it did overflow. I almost completely destroyed the bathroom floor. When my parents got home, they gave the requisite talking-to I deserved, but I only shrugged and pointed out that all day they had been teaching me that drugs were bad and there were drugs in the house. They even made all us kids learn a song about it and sing it together. “Dare to keep a kid off drugs, dare to keep a kid off dope!” My parents then sat me down and explained what Officer Friendly hadn’t and that illegal drugs like cocaine and heroin were bad and abusing legal drugs like painkillers were bad, but using legally prescribed drugs for colds and hair loss was all right. That’s what they were for after all.
