BEST FRIENDS

I never really understood what bankruptcy really meant. I am only ten years old and my parents told me that I couldn’t talk to my friend about her parent’s bankruptcy. Angela is always so sad though, so I decided to find her and cheer her up. I looked everywhere around the school building and I finally found her at recess hiding in her locker. Yep, she’s that small. The second she saw me she shut the door to it and I have to pull on it really hard to get it open. She was crying, again. I told her that we should skip class so that she can tell me everything. I told her that a long time ago she made a promise to me that as best friends, we won’t ever keep a secret from one another. We even pinky promised! So we both hid in our favorite place, one of the stalls in the bathroom, because we didn’t want the teacher to come and find us. Angela told me that her parents told her that they are in a tough situation, and that is why they can’t buy her nice presents anymore. Angela said that she’s crying now because she wanted the new Polly Pocket set, the one that had the girl on the biggest best horse, but her parents told her maybe she’ll get it another time.

GREAT INVESTMENT

We might be able to file a Chapter 13 Bankruptcy.  We didn't know for sure.  We haven't had much of a chance to look up the details.  We were just trying to keep our heads above water.  these investments were not a great idea.  They have cost us just about everything.  I don't know where to go from here, if anywhere.  We are in trouble.  Still, there is a chance we can keep the house and some personal items.  And now that Deb has a full time job we may have more room to talk.  It is humiliating, but I think we were really taken advantage of.  Nobody could know that this guy was a crook.  He came into town and promised the moon.  But we did our homework. He just was one step ahead of all our questions.  He had a quick answer for everything.  It sounded good, and we did check around, but the reviews we got were good.  So how were we to know?  It was a bad thing gone worse once the checks started to bounce and the promises of wired money never came.  We were racking up thousands is losses.  The town council, which had the power to really investigate, never did.  We suffered millions in losses.

FUNDRAISER

I’m putting out a fundraiser recipe book. I found this website that will help me put it together for a minimal amount. They specialize in fund raising material. I am thinking of making it into chapters. Chapter 1 would be Breads. Chapter 2 would be Entrees, I am sure you get the idea. My favorite will be Chapter 7 with all the desserts. I have so many ideas for what I will contribute. We are only allowing 1contributions for each chapter, but it still leaves people with plenty to submit. The fun part of this will be working with the high school girls in their Home Economics class to test the recipes. The harder part will be typing it all up and making all the decisions of type font, front cover and binding. I’ve never done something like this before; it’s been a real eye opener so far. I really enjoy baking, cooking is okay but not my favorite and I absolutely adore experimenting but I must say I do get disappointed if my experiments flop. Sometimes a few friends will chip in together to buy a cookbook and split the recipes between each other so if it flops we can inform each other. There was one time I made a beautiful looking pie but it tasted absolutely awful and my friend called me telling me not to make the peanut butter pie in that book, and I was like really? I would have never known.
